AsorCAD collaborates in the urgent manufacture of medical equipment to combat the COVID-19 pandemic

Parets del Vallès, March 24, 2020 – Hospital centers need medical supplies to cope with the covid-19 pandemic that we are experiencing, and they need it urgently.
Last week, Dr. Ferran Fillat from L’Institut d’Investigació i Innovació I3PT from Parc Taullí de Sabadell (Barcelona) joins the initiative that emerged in the RRS to facilitate additive manufacturing resources and make them available to medical requirements to fight the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and participates in the non-profit digital platform 3DCovid19.tech to coordinate at the national level the demand and supply of medical sanitary material that could be manufactured urgently with 3d printers, such as valves for respirators, masks, protective visors, etc.)
From AsorCAD they are collaborating in the manufacture of these materials doing the 3d scanning and the re-engineering of the pieces for respirators, which is the first step for the rapid manufacture of these much-needed devices.
The collaboration consists of recovering respirators that were obsolete, present in many hospital centers, but without the possibility of being used due to the lack of connection valves or respirators that could be attached to the assisted breathing machine.
Thanks to the 3d scanning with laser optical scanner of some existing parts (but insufficient or damaged), the 3D models could be reconstructed and thanks to the reverse engineering, it was possible to modify the part suitable for the respirators and optimized to be manufactured as quickly as possible in one of the 3d printers of the more than 200 companies and entrepreneurs who have made themselves available to the platform.
Today we continue to work for the rapid manufacture of other medical materials necessary to meet the demand of our toilets as quickly as possible.
